@Anastasia Romanov - Debunked and Explained
Dead Russian Duchess Found Alive [Un-] Explained: Debunking the weird and wonderful in (about) two minutes! https://www.youtube.com/c/unexplainedUK Into Thin Air: https://youtu.be/oz8DV8q67UY Conan Doyle vs the Fairies: https://youtu.be/hqq4z22ZaAY ---------------------- Transcript Did a Russian princess survive the firing squad? July 1918, Moscow: Revolution! The Bolsheviks overthrow the Russian Tsar and execute him and the Romanov royal family... except for one... The 17 year old Grand Duchess Anastasia. Days after her supposed assassination Anastasia was sighted in the city of Perm. Rumours spread of soldiers searching trains for the escaped royal. Then in the early 1920s, Anastasia breaks cover, she is living in Germany under the name of Anna Anderson. Presumed dead, the injured Duchess was smuggled out of Russia by sympathisers. Shunned by the establishment, she spends the rest of her life trying - and failing - to prove her true identity in German courtrooms. She died in 1984. 1991: Russia reveals the discovery of the Romanov grave and two bodies are missing - one is Anastasia. Anna Anderson was the duchess and had been denied her own name and birthright for her entire adult life. ...or had she? Anderson was not the only person claiming to be the Duchess. There were at least another ten claimants. During 1918 there were many incidents of fleeing Russians pretending to be Romanovs to seek refuge, especially in China. In 1994 Anna Anderson's DNA was tested. It proves she was not Anastasia Romanov. In 2007 the cremated, 91 year old remains of the true Anastasia were found near the discovered Romanov grave.
